Who needs sleep when you have an adorable baby?

Despite a lack of sleep that has had Dirk and I struggling to make it through the work week, we are having so much fun with Dakota. Once we're up (at 4:30 or 5:00 am), she keeps us thoroughly entertained. Dakota has learned to wave and it's the most precious wave. She places her hand right underneath her chin and gives a little sideways wave, as if waving to someone standing parallel to her. That and a little wrist twist as if she were on parade as Mrs. America. She loves to wave to Daddy, even hours after he's come home. Today I picked her up at daycare and she was sitting on the top of the Dutch door and Mrs. Courtney said she was waving at everyone that passed by. She is such a friendly baby!

She loves dancing with mom, esp in the mirror. And when Dad dances along, she is the happiest Junebug. She'll give a little giggle- it's the best feeling in the world. We love to make up songs for her. She will flail her arms in excitement! It is easy to forgive her for not allowing us to sleep much. She is also very mobile- and crawling and standing up and getting into everything. Once a drawer is open, she will stand by it and remove all its contents. She loves to take our her shoes and clothes and leave them strewn across the floor of her nursery. Luckily, this is an easy mess for Mom to clean up.

Her favorite person is the house is actually not a person, but a dog- Louie. Watching Louie fetch makes her so happy. She will hold a ball and I can tell she's trying to learn how to throw it for him, but doesn't have enough coordination to throw the ball. She'll let it go and get so ecstatic as she watches Louie go after it and bring it back. Even though Louie is not sure of his littlest fan, he will fetch for her and is careful not to run over her when fetching. I don't think he likes that Dakota is nuts about him, or that she has tried to eat his food. ha!

Watching her at bath time is a riot. She gets soo excited when she hears the water running. In her tub, seeing the water splash makes her squeal and repeatedly slam her hand in the water. She also loves to suck on the bath toys, slurping the water from them. Bath time is right before bedtime and it has been nice to have a routine going.

When we started seeing bluebonnets this past weekend, we knew we had to get some of Dakota in the fields of beautiful flowers popping up. They are gorgeous and she seems to be interested in them. Daddy was worried she was going to go to Juvey when she started to pull them up! We left quickly after snapping a few photos.

I am so excited for this weekend when Dakota will be baptized at Manchaca United Methodist Church. Pastor Tracy is eager to baptize Dakota, and I cannot wait for her to be welcomed "officially" into the Church. I know she will not remember this day, but for Dirk and I it will be a constant reminder that we are raising her to be a Christian and live her life for Christ. It sets my mind at ease to know we are starting this journey early in her life. We are also fortunate to be able to share the occasion with our families.

Here's our latest monthly pictures!
